UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENT: Rediscovering Irish and Jewish influences on the music of Vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley at The Sanctuary at Epiphany Center for the Arts on April 17th!

An inspiring evening of music from a fascinating, though largely forgotten, era in American music — Vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley, which was the driving force behind popular music in the first half of the 1900s. The cast will perform lively songs written by Irish and Jewish musicians, composers, and theater artists. Performers: Carolyn Broquet, Tirzah Joy, Ellen Winters Reynolds, Barb Smith, Paul Motondo, Cindy Firing, Anita Kallen, Marianne Murphy Orland, Catherine Thomson, Sonia Oyola, Cory Goodrich, Carla Gordon, Beckie Menzie, and Patricia Salinski.

In honor of Women's History Month, Morton Grove Public Library is hosting a free performance (in person AND virtual) of HERstory: Trailblazing Female Firsts on Sunday, March 26 at 2 PM.
Chicago cabaret artists Catherine Thomson and Anita Kallen salute the gutsy gals who boldly defied society’s conventions - going where no woman had gone before - and achieved groundbreaking female “Firsts.” With songs by Harold Arlen, Stephen Schwartz, Dolly Parton, Tom Lehrer, Kander & Ebb, and Sara Bareilles, among others, Anita and Catherine share inspiring stories of amazing women and their trailblazing triumphs. UPCOMING: Free Performance of HERstory: The 19th Amendment and the Power of the Vote

In honor of Women's History Month, the Indian Trails Public Library District is hosting a free performance of HERstory: The 19th Amendment and the Power of the Vote on Sunday, March 19 at 3 PM.
Chicago cabaret artists Anita Kallen and Catherine Thomson celebrate – in song and HERstory – the rabble-rousing pioneers who won the right to vote for the women of America and those fighting to preserve it. With music by Sondheim, Lennon & McCartney, the Sherman Brothers, Parton, Schwartz, Porter, and others, Anita and Catherine weave in the story of women’s suffrage from second-class citizenship at the nation’s founding to the nail-biting final days in the fight for ratification of the 19th Amendment and then to present-day efforts to preserve and maximize the power of women voting.
