So, the question is, what can Cabaret do, facing a pandemic and shut-downs? The answer is: quite a lot! Over the summer we saw some of our partners and friends produce virtual live-streamed shows. Our own CIRCLE OF SONG was treated to a virtual celebration of the best cabaret entertainment last August. Normally, autumn is the climax of CCP’s annual activity with our traditional fund-raising gala followed in December by our charitable holiday show. This year we have put all our efforts into producing a Virtual Gala with a charitable component.
On the evening of Sunday, December 13, CCP will live stream a virtual concert from CCP artists’ homes to yours. We are making the same virtual concert available, free of charge, to our partners serving older Chicagoans. This event is free to registered nursing homes and retirement center for both residents and staff. Go to https://bit.ly/CCP2020gala to register.
We hope you will join us for It’s a Cabaret Life: A Gift of Music and will be inspired to support our ongoing efforts. Links to register for the event are at Chicago Cabaret Professional | HOME – Chicago Cabaret Professionals. Registrants will receive details on how to donate and participate.
We look forward to the time when we can gather again in person for a grand CCP Gala.
Meanwhile we are thankful for all that virtual performance makes possible, giving us the opportunity to touch lives of others for the better, like George Bailey in Capra’s immortal film, proving it is still a wonderful life.
